MP: Headquarters to be established to regulate Iran-Russia relations

Abbas Golru elaborating on contents of Tuesday session of the National Security Commission said, "After the recent visit of the Russian Duma chairman of Tehran and holding the Bilateral Parliamentary Commission, in our today commission session, titled Surveying the latest status of bilateral relations between Iran and Russia, we surveyed the issue in the presence of Iran Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali."

He said that the two countries' bilateral, regional and international relations, especially after the president's visit to Moscow, and President Putin's visit to Tehran after that visit, are expanding comprehensively, but of course in the economic field, since we are not quite familiar with the capacities existing in Russia, we have not witnessed appropriate growth, and the issue is therefore to be surveyed and ways for broader comprehension need to be identified.

Golru said that the land, sea and air transit and transportation routes with Russia are the most important issue in Iran's relations with Russia, and the government must make up for the weaknesses in transportation and rail fields seriously.

He said that Iran has imported goods worth more than 300 billion dollars from Russia last year, and the country's imports and exports from and to Russia can increase drastically relying on precise planning.

The member of Parliament's National Security Commission said that Russia is a good market for exporting Iran's agricultural products, construction materials, and many other products, and this can create an evolution on our different industries.

Golru said that Iran's ambassador to Russia, too, said that if the entire capacities for boosting Iran-Russia trade will be identified and used the problems with which are entangled due to sanctions will be resolved to a great extent.

He said that the Russians praise Iran's capabilities in military, airplanes overhauling, and knowledge-based industries, and are the Islamic Republic of Iran's powerful partner, with whom we can create a new atmosphere at the international scene, keeping in mind the new alterations in the world, that can be the beginning of a new chapter on bilateral relations.
